' fair enough ' の fair は「公平さ」とはあまり関係がありません。定義を見てみましょう。 fair enough; ( especially British English ) used to say that you agree with someone's suggestion or that something seems reasonable (例文)' See you on Tuesday at 8.' ' Fair enough. ' (例文)well, if you want to go on your own that's fair enough. 例文1の fair は「自分としてはそれでよい」という賛成の意味、例文2の fair は「理解できる」といった感じです。 イギリス人はこの表現よく使いますね。サイモンもしょっちゅうです。 なお、昨日の ' It's not fair ' という言い方ですが、' It isn't fair ' ではないことに注意してください。この2つ否定の程度の差があるようです。 " It isn't fair. " ふつうに full stop ( . ) が付く感じ、単なる neutral な否定 " It's not fair, " exclamation mark ( ! ) が付く「強調」の否定「なんと、 .... ではない!」
